About EOTEI

“We empower young people and communities with the knowledge, tools, and leadership needed to protect their environment and build a sustainable future.”

Eyes On The Environment Initiative (EOTEI) is a registered, youth-led non-profit organisation dedicated to building a sustainable, climate-resilient future. Established in Kano, Nigeria, we work across vulnerable and highly degraded landscapes with one mission: to educate, empower, and mobilise communities—especially young people—to become active guardians of the environment.

Our work addresses the growing challenges of deforestation, desertification, drought, air pollution, and climate-related risks across Nigeria’s dryland regions. We strengthen climate awareness, deliver community-based solutions, and support environmentally responsible leadership from the grassroots up.

EOTEI implements climate literacy programs in schools, trains youth, women, and children on climate mitigation and adaptation, and promotes clean energy solutions that improve everyday resilience. We collaborate with traditional leaders, recognising their essential role in shaping local environmental governance and inspiring community-driven action.

Through our flagship initiatives—such as She Can Plant a Tree, Every African Child Deserves Clean Air, and Raising Young Voices for Climate Justice—EOTEI has planted thousands of trees, mobilised students and households, empowered girls through education and environmental mentorship, and contributed to global advocacy platforms including COP26, COP27, and COP29.

At EOTEI, we believe that awareness is the seed, action is the growth, and communities are the roots of lasting change. Together, we are nurturing a generation of informed, empowered changemakers who will protect the environment and safeguard the future.

OUR MISSION

  1. To empower young people and vulnerable communities with the knowledge and skills to take meaningful climate action.

  2. To advance environmental stewardship through climate education, advocacy, and community-led initiatives.

  3. To promote climate resilience in Nigeria’s dryland and high-risk regions through tree planting, clean air advocacy, and sustainable land restoration.

  4. To collaborate with traditional leaders, schools, and local communities to strengthen culturally rooted, long-term environmental solutions.

  5. To champion climate justice, amplify youth leadership, and close the environmental data gaps that hinder effective action.

OUR VISION

  1. A climate-resilient Nigeria where every child breathes clean air and every community thrives in harmony with nature.

  2. A future where young people lead bold environmental action and shape sustainable development across Africa.

  3. Restored landscapes, empowered communities, and a generation of environmentally conscious citizens driving long-lasting change.

  4. An Africa where climate education, justice, and community resilience are at the centre of environmental progress.
